OVERVIEW
The Achilles Desert Hawk H/T 2 is a highway terrain, summer tire manufactured for SUVs. It has some high performance sizes and some touring sizes for passenger vehicles as well. Achilles offers a 60,000 mile treadwear warranty with this tire model.
The tire promotes great summer weather traction. The silica tire compound and the symmetric tread pattern enhance the dry and wet weather traction. However, the tire is not meant to be used in winter conditions, as the tread does not maintain its good traction on ice and snow-covered road surfaces. The four wide circumferential grooves actively resist hydroplaning by eliminating water and slush from below the tire’s footprint. The enhanced hydroplaning prevention and excellent summer traction ensure a safer driving experience.
The tread design manages to increase the tire’s controllability. The solid center rib increases the tire’s driving stability by securing the tire against the driving pressure affecting it during the drive. The upgraded stability ensures a safer drive as it makes the tire more responsive to the driver’s commands. The tire also promotes great cornering ability and power in all weather. The interlocking shoulder tread blocks boost the number of biting edges that grip the road surface in such situations which ensures a safer performance.
The Desert Hawk H/T 2 promotes a fuel efficient drive. The silica-based tire compound and the tread pattern manage to decrease the rolling resistance. The rolling resistance is the driving force affecting the tire that determines how much energy the vehicle needs to maintain the tire’s motion. The lesser rolling resistance decreases the vehicle’s fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. It also manages to extend the tread life and tire usability. It slows the tread wear rate down significantly, while the symmetric tread design prevents irregular wear formations.
Manufacturers recommend changing tires every 10 years. As long as tires are properly stored before they are sold, the year of their manufacture will not shorten their service life.
